This weekend saw the annual French Cup finals! And it didn’t disappoint, with some high-flying games between the teams present.
Friday kicked off with the French Amateur Cup finals, which saw Alençon beat Monaco by 19 points in the women’s category, and Fougères beats Gravenchon by the slimmest of margins!
This is the third consecutive title for Fougères, making French Cup history! And who knows, maybe they’ll soon be going for 4!
As for the MVPs, Lisa Cluzeau was elected for Alençon and the inevitable Maxime Choplin for Fougères, who also won his 3rd consecutive title!
On Saturday, ahead of the professional team finals, the public were treated to a showdown between the young guard of French basketball and the U17 team finals!
In the first match of the day, Mondeville defeated Montpellier, while Cholet beat ASVEL in the next game.
Congratulations to Genesya Mayele and Soren Brack, both of whom were voted MVP of their respective games.
The highlight of the weekend was, of course, the professional team finals!
Basket Landes, in search of their third title, were unable to turn the game in their favor, unlike the players of Bourges, who win the French Cup this year! A title the club had not won since 2019!
Kayla Alexander, inevitable during this final, was voted MVP of the match.
The final match saw JDA Dijon and SIG Strasbourg go head-to-head, with players from both teams firing off shot after shot!
But the team-mates of Vitalis Chikoko, voted MVP of the game, came out on top against their SIG counterparts.
They win the 2024 edition of the French Cup!
Congratulations to all the players for their performances over the weekend, which satisfied the crowds who came out in force for the occasion, the Accor Arena sold out for the whole of Saturday!
