On Wednesday December 13, we were invited to EDHEC Paris to attend a conference on the compatibility of higher education and top-level sport.
The program included a presentation of EDHEC’s BBA Online and two round-table discussions.
In a small but significant detail, we were able to count on a fine representation of French basketball, with speakers from this discipline on each round table.
Margaux Okou, member of the SNB Board of Directors and holder of the EDHEC BBA Online diploma, and Arthur Daroux, Head of Training, spoke about the importance of studying during one’s career.
It was also an opportunity to discuss the SNB’s support of players’ training projects each season, and to exchange views with other players in the field, such as Laurence Blondel, who is in charge of monitoring training projects at INSEP, and Guilhem Guirado, former captain of the French national team, who is now working in the insurance sector.
The 2nd round-table discussion focused on the added value of companies and the State’s recognition of the career paths of professional and high-level sportsmen and women in their aid and recruitment processes.
We also had the pleasure of hearing from someone well known to our services, as Pape-Philippe Amagou also accepted the invitation.
A former international, holder of the BBA Online and having won everything at the highest French level, he is now a manager at Cap Gemini.
After recounting his career as a basketball player, he talked to us about the interest and trust shown in former athletes when recruiting for his consultancy.
These were enriching exchanges with a wide range of players from the worlds of sport, training and business.
Presidents of sports federations, ministerial delegates, members of the CNOSF and, above all, active sportsmen and women who are already preparing their life project with EDHEC were all present to exchange views on this central subject.
Special mention must be made of the male and female players who were on hand in the middle of exam periods!
