THE TANGO BOURGES BASKET AND LDLC ASVEL FEMININE WILL NOT PLAY THE FINAL OF THE FRENCH CUP
Concerned about their health, the players of Tango Bourges Basket and LDLC ASVEL Féminin will not play the final of the French Cup scheduled for this Friday, September 18.
The clubs have reported the existence of four positive cases within the workforce in accordance with the protocol in force. The FFBB has decided to maintain the match. Despite numerous requests from the two clubs and the Syndicat National des Basketteurs (SNB), the criteria of the protocol that motivated this decision have not been specified.
The players have exchanged with the Minister in charge of Sports, the President of the FFBB, the SNB and their respective clubs. In agreement and with the support of their technical staffs and their leaders, they decided not to play this match. A strong and responsible decision, guided by the primary interest of preserving their health.
The players, the coaches and the two clubs deplore not being able to offer the public the celebration and the sports show that should have been this meeting. They hope that this decision will allow to define a precise framework, shared with all the actors. The first objective is to gather the necessary conditions for a calm return to the game, one week before the official launch of the 2020-2021 Women’s Basketball League season.
